JPMorgan blocks external AI agents from accessing accounts
Summary
JPMorgan Chase has decided to block outside AI agents, such as Muse and Instinct, from directly accessing customer accounts, according to CEO Jamie Dimon. This move, announced during the bank's third-quarter earnings call, is driven by concerns over security risks posed to clients, especially as tech companies like Meta unveil autonomous financial assistants. Dimon emphasized the importance of safeguarding customer information, noting the potential dangers of permitting "rogue agents" to operate within the bank's systems. Currently, while AI agents can access limited customer data in a read-only capacity when authorized, they are prohibited from performing transactions like sending money or paying bills. To counter the competition posed by these external agents, JPMorgan is also piloting its own AI tool, Smart Cash, aimed at enhancing cash flow management for customers.
